Built in 1982 on the site of an old zoo, it is owned and run by Flamingo Land Ltd.
Pleasure Island Theme Park in Lincolnshire is a true family attraction, offering plenty to see, and more importantly, plenty to do. With seven exciting white knuckle rides for the adventurous, kiddies rides and family rides, there’s something for everyone. During the summer season there are six different family shows suitable for all ages, one at least of which will feature a children’s celebrity favourite.
The site is divided into six themed areas with a series of varied attractions in each called Morocco, Africa, Spain, Old England, Kiddies Kingdom and White Knuckle Valley.
So it will be a full day in order to pack in all the action and excitement that’s available.
Naturally enough, a family day out at Pleasure Island Theme Park in Lincolnshire is not just confined to having rides. Free parking aside, there are picnic areas, food and refreshments available from a variety of conveniently located on-site catering outlets, including healthy options. A Food Court has been added recently offering a variety of meal options under one roof. There’s also a bar, gift shop, the new Lakeside Kiosk seated area next door to Kiddie’s Cove, and even dogs (on leads) are welcome. This is all supported by excellent toilet and baby-changing facilities.
Well-known for its entertaining rides, both white knuckle, family-orientated and rides and slides for younger children alike.
The ‘Boomerang’ is the resort’s flagship ride – a roller-coaster of a train ride travelling at speed through loops and turns. The recently added ‘Obliterator’ rotates passengers a thrilling 360 degrees, while the Hydromax, at an impressive 130 feet the tallest ride at Pleasure Island catapults passengers anti-clockwise 360 degrees at a speed of 75 km/h, and with a breath taking G force of 4.1.
Opened in 2008, Kiddies' Cove, which is situated beside the recently refurbished Sea Lion House, is a fantastic play area which has been designed specially to fuel the imagination of children aged between 2 and 7. Encouraging youngsters to develop their skills, they can climb, slide, crawl, balance or step. Adults can relax with their energy-filled youngsters tires themselves out in this ultra-safe new play area.
And finally, for younger visitors, there are plenty of favourites, including the waltzer style Whirly Twirl, an indoor Carousel (always a firm family favourite), Flying Chairs, Mini Train and Minis Dodgems, to mention just a few.
