The Deeping Show

The Deeping Show has been a venue since 1945 and is held on the showground in Market Deeping. Each year a small committee co-ordinates a wonderful, traditional and exciting show which includes fatstock, rural crafts, displays with many family entertainments and attractions.

The Deeping Show has a variety of attractions from horse and pony events to vintage machinery both moving and static. The main ring has entertainments from brass bands to terrier racing and displays by organisations and teams. The outer rings hold the horse and pony qualifiers with the finals in the main ring. Top class entries in the gymkhana provide a thrilling spectacle and sport. There are trade stands and a shopping mall with many bargains for the shopaholics, whilst the exhibition marquee has the art and produce competition entries. Demonstrations of spinning, basket weaving, painting and upholstery take place as well as sheep shearing. There are cattle, sheep and poultry stalls with competitions in each of these categories.

The main highlights for 2009 are:

The Cheshire Canine Display Team, a superb, entertaining and informative display comprising of a wide variety of dogs of all shapes and sizes from a range of backgrounds including rescue dogs, pet dogs and doggie stars from the world of TV and photographic modelling. The crowd will be treated to a brilliant display of canine wizardry at its very best from exciting high speed agility races to fire jumping and police dog action.

The display is performed to music with an amusing and informative commentary. After the displays the team’s static stand always proves popular giving the audience chance to meet the dogs and handlers.

The City of Coventry Corps of Drums were formed in 1947 and have become one of the most famous and respected youth marching bands in the country. Appearances have taken them all over the UK as well as tours overseas to Belgium, Holland, Germany, Luxemburg, Switzerland, France and Norway. In 1983 they became the first non American corps to march in the prestigious Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, USA.

Kangaroos Gymnastic and Trampoline Display Team was formed in 1981, and is now recognised as one of the leading Gymnastic Vaulting Display teams in Europe, and one of the top indoor and outdoor arena and Corporate acts of any kind in Britain.

The level of performance is now so high that at least six members perform double somersaults over a car (such as a Land Rover ‘Discovery’), and perform an Olympic vault simultaneously over a six foot vaulting table, and several perform triple somersaults at the end of the incredible ‘Big Move’, the longest and highest continuous vaulting move, we believe, in the World! In an average display well over 250 somersaults of all kinds are performed, producing an enthralling and exciting spectacle for any audience. They also have their famous Comedy Display giving two completely different shows in one programme.
